What You'll Need
Go deeper into the woods.
Some fragrances brighten a room.
Deep Woods gives it depth.
Built around cedarwood and patchouli, this diffuser blend combines rich woods and earthy botanicals with aromatic rosemary and just enough citrus to keep the composition from becoming too heavy.
Cedarwood forms the foundation. Patchouli adds an earthy richness. Rosemary introduces a green, aromatic edge, while bergamot and grapefruit appear quietly at the top of the blend with a touch of brightness.
The result feels less like cut timber and more like the forest itself—wood, leaves, earth and fresh air layered together.
The Blend
Add to your diffuser:
4 drops Cedarwood
2 drops Patchouli
2 drops Rosemary
1 drop Bergamot
1 drop Grapefruit
Total: 10 drops
Add the oils to your diffuser according to its instructions and give the blend a few minutes to develop.
Deep Woods is naturally richer than a citrus-forward recipe, so beginning with fewer total drops may be preferable in a smaller room.
What it smells like
Woody · Earthy · Aromatic
Cedarwood dominates the opening with a dry, warm woody character.
Patchouli takes the fragrance deeper and earthier, while rosemary introduces the green aromatic quality that keeps Deep Woods feeling botanical rather than heavy.
Bergamot and grapefruit provide the final contrast: a small flash of citrus against the darker woods.
Make it yours
For a drier, woodier Deep Woods, add another drop of Cedarwood.
For a greener version, increase Rosemary by one drop.
For a brighter interpretation, add an additional drop of Bergamot or Grapefruit.
If you find Patchouli particularly strong, reduce it to 1 drop and add the remaining drop to Cedarwood.
Where we'd diffuse it
Deep Woods suits spaces where you want fragrance with a little more presence: a living room, den, reading area or home office.
It's especially beautiful as the weather begins to cool and deeper botanical fragrances start to feel at home indoors.
A NOTE ON DIFFUSING
Essential oil amounts should be adjusted to suit your diffuser size, your preferred scent strength, and the diffuser manufacturer's recommendations. Do not exceed the amount recommended for your device.
